The retrospective covers several decades of massive hits from the Gibb brothers' unrivalled career, beginning with their first No. 1 in Australia, the adopted home of their youth, with 1966's 'Spicks and Specks.' It embraces early, worldwide smash hits of the late '60s, such as 'New York Mining Disaster 1941,' 'Massachusetts' and 'I've Gotta Get a Message to You'; their mid-1970s rebirth with such songs as 'Jive Talkin'' and 'Nights On Broadway'; the dance anthems of the record-breaking Saturday Night Fever era including 'Night Fever' and 'Stayin’ Alive' and their 1987 UK No. 1 'You Win Again.'

Writing a new introduction for Timeless, Barry Gibb says: "There is a spirituality about this album and these songs always meant the most to us. Although there are many other songs, these songs, I feel, are the songs that Maurice, Robin, and I would be most proud of.”

The collection will be followed by the 12 May reissue on vinyl, for its 40th anniversary, of the remastered Saturday Night Fever Original Movie Soundtrack. The worldwide release will be on 2LP vinyl in a gatefold jacket which faithfully replicates the Grammy-winning soundtrack's original artwork.

Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004, the album was led by the Bee Gees themselves as well as featuring their songs that became hits for Tavares ('More Than A Woman') and Yvonne Elliman ('If I Can't Have You') and tracks by staple soul acts such as the Trampps, KC and the Sunshine Band and Kool and the Gang.

On 16 April at 8pm ET/PT, CBS will air the new two-hour primetime special, Stayin' Alive: A Grammy Salute To The Music Of The Bee Gees. It will feature performances of Bee Gees hits by Barry Gibb, Kelsea Ballerini, Andra Day, Jason Derulo, Celine Dion, DNCE, Nick Jonas, Tori Kelly, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Little Big Town, Pentatonix, Thomas Rhett, Tavares, Keith Urban and Stevie Wonder. The tribute also has appearances by Cynthia Erivo, John Travolta and Wilmer Valderrama.
