OK, well here we go again!!! I think this is about the third time in about 2 months or so that uDiscover has asked this question and other related questions referring to Eric Clapton leaving John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and joining what band. There is always the WRONG INFORMATION within the question! It wasn’t in the Summer of 1965 that Clapton left John Mayall & The BBs, It was 1966, The end of June to be exact, that Clapton left Mayall’s Bluesbreakers just as the groundbreaking album “John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton” was released. Clapton’s tenure with John Mayall began in late March of 1965 (shortly after leaving The Yardbirds) and continued through June of 1966 (with a couple of brief interruptions along the way). We all know that Clapton then joined with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce to form CREAM in July of 1966 (It was Ginger’s idea to approach Clapton about this new trio concept). So uDiscover, you are, again off (about a year) as to when this took place. Hey you guys at uDiscover, do you ever read the comments that are posted to your questions and if so do you ever bother to check your facts? Hey, I know that in the big scheme of things and the big picture that this isn’t really all that important. But look at it this way: If this was some sort of sports trivia question thing and whoever was putting out these questions was stating wrong facts in their questions, what do you think would happen?! Sports fanatics would be all over it going nuts about wrong info & stats about famous and respected sports figures. Don’t respected musicians such as Eric Clapton deserve the same respect as to the accuracy of facts in their career? Het uDiscover, get your act together and “Discover” some accurate facts for a change!

      Thanks, Ken.

Not sure you read the question correctly.

Eric Clapton LEFT the Bluesbreakers in AUGUST 1965 to go on the road with The Glands for a tour in Greece.

YES, he REJOINED the Bluesbreakers when the Greece trip did not go to plan, and then he left a year later, as you correctly state.

The question quite clearly asks which band he left the Bluesbreakers for in the summer of 1965.

His position was kept open for him after Eric asked John Mayall whether it would be OK to leave and if it didn’t work if he could maybe return. John Mayall reluctantly agreed and got Peter Green to stand in whilst Eric was NOT with the Bluesbreakers.

      Have a great day! 🙂

You would have had to have bought the 45 to know the B side. A true fan bought the LP as I did.
