Rising British star Ella Eyre unveils her new video for the track ‘Comeback,’ the next single from her upcoming debut album, below, in a clip directed by Jon Augustavo — with some strong language and the feeling that she’s not to be messed with. Especially as the tale of romantic retribution is based on a break-up she went through herself at the age of 17. The artist, born Ella McMahon, only turned 20 on April 1.
The track will be released as a UK single on September as the follow-up to her No. 16 hit of last month, ‘If I Go.’ As we reported then, the former BRIT School student has confirmed a headline British tour that will run from October 1-22 and includes an October 10 date at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
Eyre has always had a flair for drama, as she told Hunger TV. “I really enjoyed doing drama at school,” she said, “and the first time I remember loving singing was when I was cast as Tallulah in ‘Bugsy Malone.’ I was about 16 and it started to occur to me that perhaps I could make a career out of performing.
“Then I went to the BRIT School and studied musical theatre, but about a year into that I decided that it didn’t allow me to be as creative as I wanted to be, and I wasn’t happy singing somebody else’s songs. I felt like I had my own thing to say.”
