Don Henley‘s Cass County album came to life on the latest edition of the long-running PBS series Austin City Limits. Here’s the chance to watch the live performance of his duet with Trisha Yearwood from the record, ‘Words Can Break Your Heart.’
The two are old friends, and previously teamed up to memorable effect on Yearwood’s 1992 country smash ‘Walkaway Joe,’ on which Henley provided backing vocals. His appearance on Austin City Limits also featured cameos from other such country notables as Martina McBride (who duets with him on the album’s ‘That Old Flame’), Ashley Monroe and Jamey Johnson, as well as Martie Maguire and Emily Robison Strayer from the Dixie Chicks.
The country-flavoured Cass County has been a top ten album in many countries, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard country chart and No. 3 pop. It entered the UK bestsellers at No. 7 and also made the top five in Canada and Holland, among other successes.
Henley is now preparing for a set of North American dates with special guest Shawn Colvin, whose own new album Uncovered was also released in September, on Fantasy via Concord. They open at the Beacon Theatre in New York on 2 November, the first of seven shows that conclude with a date at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia on 12 November.
