British folk music giants Bellowhead celebrate their tenth anniversary, and their new deal with Island, by releasing their fifth studio album ‘Revival’ in the UK on June 23. The single ‘Gosport Nancy’ will be out a week earlier.
In their first decade together, Bellowhead’s live performances have become the stuff of legend, leading them to win the Best Live Act trophy at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards no fewer than five times. Their last album ‘Broadside’ was also Album of the Year at last year’s Folk Awards, and in April, Faber’s first print run of ‘The Bellowhead Songbook’ swiftly sold out.
Bellowhead start a new run of live dates on July 5, with UK shows throughout August and another tour in November. “After a decade together, we’re ready for some overnight success,” jokes the band’s Paul Sartin. “The chance to sign to Island is really exciting, and we’ve worked hard to make our best record yet.”
