Cocomi selected ten classical masterpieces that she loves for her debut album de l’amour, including Massenet’s ‘Méditation’ from Thaïs, Fauré’s ‘Sicilienne’ and Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’, which were arranged by Japanese film composer Takatsugu Muramatsu.

Cocomi collaborated with 8 renowned classical musicians on de l’amour including David Garrett, a star violinist whose work spans from classical music to rock, violinist Ray Chen, described as, “the ray of sunshine in the violin world,” by The Times and guitarist Miloš, described by The New York Times as, “One of the most exciting and communicative classical guitarists today.”

“It was truly a wonderful experience that I will cherish forever”

“I had the privilege of collaborating with some of the greatest classical players in the world today,” said Cocomi. “It was truly a wonderful experience that I will cherish forever. I hope you will rediscover the fun and beauty of classical music.”

The album’s title de l’amour, chosen by Cocomi, means ‘of love’ and was inspired by Poulenc’s song ‘Les Chemins de l’amour’ which is featured on the recording.

Cocomi started playing violin and piano at the age of three and flute at eleven. She has attended masterclasses with Vladimir Ashkenazy and Emmanuel Pahud, and studies flute with Hiroaki Kanda, principal flutist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Last year Cocomi played flute on Chad Lawson’s composition ‘Stay’ which was featured on the World Sleep Day playlist. In January 2021 she was a featured soloist in the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra’s New Year Concert 2021. Cocomi grew up listening to different styles of music from an early age and one of her dreams is to spread the joy of classical music.

Cocomi’s debut album de l’amour will be released on 29 April 2022 – listen to the first single, ‘Sicilienne’, on Spotify.
