Knopfler Speaks #1: The ‘Tracker’ Tour

Published on

With Mark Knopfler’s 2015 ‘Tracker’ tour now up and running, uDiscover has the first in a series of audio treats for his legions of fans. Here’s an exclusive segment of the great British singer-songwriter in conversation with journalist/broadcaster Paul Sexton. There’ll be more excerpts to come, and in this first instalment, Mark talks about the tour and how he feels about getting back on the road.

The UK and Ireland leg of the itinerary continues over the coming days, with a London show at The 02 tomorrow (Friday), one at the LG Arena, Birmingham on Saturday and then two at the Royal Albert Hall in London next Monday and Tuesday. The European dates then begin in Assago, Italy on May 28, in a huge run of shows stretching until July 31 in Barcelona, followed by a North American leg in September and October.

In this exclusive audio, you’ll hear Mark reveal some of his favourite cities from his previous world tours, in Europe and North America, and how each place conjures specific, fond memories for him and his band. He also discusses playing new material in the live set, and the possibility of working different songs from his catalogue into the show.

Knopfler concludes with some thoughts about how he approaches travelling and touring, and how it continues to be an essential part of his working life. Listen out for more audio conversation with him on uDiscover in the weeks ahead.
