Lil Wayne, Rick Ross Confirmed As Contributors For ‘Creed II’ Soundtrack
‘Creed II’ is the sequel to 2015’s ‘Creed’ – a Golden Globe Award-winning film directed by ‘Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler.
Mike Will Made-It has confirmed Rick Ross and Lil Wayne will be contributing to the forthcoming Creed II soundtrack. Set for a November 21 release, Creed II is the sequel to 2015’s Creed — a Golden Globe Award-winning film directed by Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler.
Earlier in October, it was reported that Mike Will Made-It will serve as the curator/executive producer for the soundtrack to the Michael B. Jordan-starring Creed II and in a recent interview with Variety, he spoke of the importance of showing “the new generation that soundtracks can be just as exciting as traditional albums.”
Recently, the executive producer began utilizing his social media accounts to reveal (and hint at) a number of reputable acts he recruited to craft the compilation. With an impressive roster amassed thus far, it is safe to say that the heavyweight producer is looking to reinforce his claim.
Mike Will took to his Instagram to reveal a conversation he shared with Young Money president Mack Maine on Monday, 22 October. The exchange, though brief, confirmed the delivery of vocals from Lil Wayne, whose long-awaited Carter V album dropped at the end of September. The caption simply reads “DWAYNE CARTER VOCALS ARE IN – AND ARE CURRENTLY BEING MIXED & MASTERED.”
The executive producer confirmed Rick Ross’ appearance in an Instagram post on 24 October. “PAINT A MEURAL OF MY FACE WHEN IM DECEASED WITH BEST,” Mike Will wrote in the caption for an image of himself and the God Forgives, I Don’t artist. “RICKY ROSÉ CONFIRMED ON THE #CREEDIISOUNDTRACK.”
With these revelations the Creed II soundtrack is already looking like it will definitely be a star-studded affair. Thus far, Nas, Kodak Black and YG have also been confirmed for the new project.
Creed II, which is a movie chronicling one boxer’s inter-generational grudge match with the son of the man who killed his father during a boxing match decades prior, opens in US theaters on 21 November.
