Fresh off her multiple Grammy wins, country music darling Kacey Musgraves has shared the new music video for ‘Rainbow’, the closing track off her award-winning album Golden Hour.

The accompanying video is just as striking and poignant as the song itself, which has become something of an anthem to the LGBT community, just as her previous song ‘Follow Your Arrow’ did.
In the visuals, Musgraves serves as a guardian angel figure, patiently watching the struggles of everyday people and reminding them “That there’s always been a rainbow hangin’ over your head”.
The piano-and-vocals arrangement of ‘Rainbow’ stands in stark contrast to the rest of the album. As Musgraves explained to NPR music during a previous interview:
“It was a song that I wrote about six years ago. When I went into making this album, it just felt like something was missing. I had my groovy love songs covered; I had my sassy “High Horse,” irreverent, “screw you” song covered. An album isn’t necessarily completely about finding different angles to songs, [but] I did want it to be a well-rounded record.”
The celebrated singer-songwriter also gave a stunning performance of the track during the Grammy Awards last night, dressed all in white and looking like a divine presence while an LED rainbow shone behind her.
Musgraves was one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home Best New Album for Golden Hour as well as Best Country Album, Best Country Song for ‘Space Cowboy’) and Best Country Solo Performance for ‘Butterflies’.
She also performed two songs as part of the night’s Dolly Parton tribute, first with Katy Perry and then Little Big Town and Dolly herself for an ensemble rendition of ‘9 to 5’.
Since its debut, Golden Hour was met with universal praise and earned Musgraves her highest chart debut in the UK to date, premiering at No. 6.
Continuing her victory lap, Musgraves is also currently on tour, playing all over North America and wrapping it up in the Dominican Republic at All The Best Fest.
