U2 Announce First Ever Concert In India

U2 has announced they’ll be bringing their record-breaking ‘Joshua Tree Tour’ to Mumbai, India on Sunday, 15 December at DY Patil Stadium.

U2 has announced they’ll be bringing their record-breaking ‘Joshua Tree Tour’ to Mumbai, India on Sunday 15 December at DY Patil Stadium.

This historic gig marks the band’s first-time playing India and will close out the their smash hit tour celebrating their seminal 1987 album, The Joshua Tree.

“We have been around the world with The Joshua Tree and we can’t think of a better place to celebrate the end of this tour. Mumbai, India, we’re coming for you, I hope you’re ready!,” shared The Edge.

‘U2: The Joshua Tree Tour’ 2019 sees the band make their live return to a number of cities and countries they haven’t played since their Vertigo Tour in 2006, including Australia, New Zealand and Tokyo.

The 2019 tour kicks off on 8 November in Auckland, New Zealand, and will continue on to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, followed by stops in Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul and Manila, before concluding in Mumbai.

“We’re much looking forward to bringing a dash of Dublin to Mumbai, India. A country famous for its rich culture of art, music, movies, theatre, literature, food and so much more. There is a lot of excitement in the U2 camp,” said bassist Adam Clayton.

Along with Mumbai, this also marks the first time U2 will play Singapore, Seoul and Manila. The band previously announced their Asia-Pacific tour a few months ago, but the Mumbai date was only revealed today, 18 September.

“Mumbai is the perfect city to end our JT 2019 tour. Very excited to see you there,” said drummer Larry Mullen. “Mumbai. Let’s rock the house,” Bono added.

The Mumbai concert is being produced by Live Nation Global Touring and BookMyShow, a former ticketing company that has shifted into managing live entertainment event including Cirque du Soleil Bazzar, Disney’s Aladdin and Ed Sheeran’s India tour.

Pre-sale for U2.com subscribers will begin on Tuesday, 24 September (12 noon IST) through Wednesday, 25 September (23:59) while general tickets will go on sale beginning Thursday, 1 October at 12 noon IST.
