Carly Rae Jepsen Releases ‘Guardian Angel’
The track will be included on the 10th anniversary edition of ‘E•MO•TION.’
Carly Rae Jepsen has unveiled “Guardian Angel,” one of six bonus tracks featured on E•MO•TION (10th Anniversary Edition).
The new collection, set to be released on October 17, includes both the Kyle Shearer and Rostam remixes of “Run Away With Me” and four previously unreleased tracks, “More,” “Back Of My Heart,” “Lost In Devotion,” and the just released “Guardian Angel.”
On the emotionally charged love anthem, Jepsen sings: “I wanna be your guardian angel/ I wanna be the words you pray/ The world could be burning down/ But I’ll keep you safe in my arms.”
The Interscope/UMe release includes a digital deluxe, ATMOS, and a number of exclusive vinyl variants including 1LP blue swirl color vinyl, a 1LP zoetrope vinyl, and 2LP magenta swirl color vinyl with an alternate cover plus an insert of the original.
Upon announcing the 10th anniversary edition, Jepsen celebrated 10 years of E•MO•TION with a full front-to-back performance of the album in front of an audience at the legendary Los Angeles nightclub the Troubadour. In a note to fans, Jepsen billed the concert as “a one night only intimate club show where it all began.”
E•MO•TION reframed Jepsen’s career and altered the course of modern pop. In achieving cult-classic status, the album has accumulated more than one billion streams and been recognized as one of the greatest albums of the decade by outlets including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and Billboard.
Jepsen originally released E•MO•TION on June 24, 2015. Upon arrival, it crashed the Top 10 of the Top Albums Chart in Canada and the Top 20 of the Billboard 200. Among a bevy of fan-favorite anthems, this body of work comprises her Platinum-certified single “I Really Like You,” “Run Away With Me,” “Your Type,” and many more.
More recently, Jepsen released a pair of sister albums with 2022’s The Loneliest Time and 2023’s The Loveliest Time. She’s also been collaborating with Lena Dunham on a Broadway musical adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You.
