The duo, comprising Jazzelle, also known as Ugly Worldwide, and Robot MoonJuice, wrote the full EP themselves. Zach Fogarty, whose credits include A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples and Fousheé, served as executive producer. Jazzelle described making OTW as an inward-looking process and said the project marked a new stage in their creative work. “Making music is entirely new to me, yet it has flown out of me like I’ve always known it,” Jazzelle said. “I hope this project inspires people to be unafraid of vulnerability. It’s the key to unlocking parts of yourself you never knew existed.”
Robot MoonJuice described OTW as “a gift to my inner child” and tied the project to themes of survival and belonging. “It’s a combination of all the good and bad that has happened; a testament to surviving and seeing light through the darkness,” Robot said. “This EP is for anyone who feels like they don’t belong. In skuzland, everyone is welcome.” “WALK LiKE ME” is the third and final single from the EP, following “GiRL AMERiCA” and “STEREO.”
According to the duo, “GiRL AMERiCA” was written after the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade and channels their response to the political climate surrounding the decision. “STEREO” was previously released with a music video directed by Luis Villanueva, whose credits include work with Noah Cyrus and Saint Levant. The EP also follows several appearances by skuzland earlier this summer, including their first festival performance at Mighty Hoopla in London and appearances during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
