Magnus Ferrell Releases New EP ‘Groove Therapy’
The 22-year old is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers.
Rising singer-songwriter Magnus Ferrell has shared a new EP, Groove Therapy, via Visva/Republic Records. The EP arrives as the 22-year-old singer hits the road supporting Jonas Brothers on select dates of their tour this fall.
The seven-track project features the singles “Asleep Talking” and “Waste Your Heart” as well as a new collaboration with Jenevive, “She’s Gonna Break My Heart.”
“Groove Therapy is my favorite collection of songs I’ve ever made,” Magnus shared in a press statement. “I had so much fun making it, and I hope people have just as much fun listening to it.”
On the EP, Ferrell pulls from his roots as a trained jazz pianist. He follows a family tradition–his paternal grandfather, Roy Lee Farrell Jr. played saxophone and piano for the Righteous Brothers. Magnus originally intended to follow in his famous father Will Ferrell’s footsteps and pursue acting, but ultimately chose music.

Magnus’ fall tour with Jonas Brothers was preceded by a run of summer shows with Nick Jonas. The fall tour begins at Boston’s TD Garden on September 25th and continues through December with stops in Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee, San Diego, Denver, and more. He’ll take a break from the tour at the end of September with two headline shows at New York’s famous Blue Note club on the 30th.
Ferrell recently spoke to Atwood Magazine, where he shared his goals as a songwriter: “I want to prove to the world that you can be jazzy as hell if you want to, but still write hooks that translate to people who have no experience in music. Guys like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Prince were all able to do that. I notice there’s a gaping void, and I’m really intending to fill that.”
