Hear Blake Proehl’s Debut EP ‘Hearts Don’t Break’
The former NFL player’s first EP arrives as Proehl continues a run of fall tour dates alongside Russell Dickerson, Niko Moon and others.
Blake Proehl has released his debut EP, Hearts Don’t Break, a six-track project out through MCA. The collection includes “If He Ain’t Up,” “Hearts Don’t Break Like That,” “She Got It,” “Way Back,” “Wild Magnolia” and “Always Almost.”
The EP marks Proehl’s first full project since signing with MCA earlier this year. A former NFL player, Proehl has since focused on music, and Hearts Don’t Break draws on themes including relationships, nostalgia, resilience and starting over. He described the release as a milestone after an unexpected change in direction in his own life. “I’ve learned that when one door closes, another one opens, and sometimes it leads you somewhere you never expected. Having this EP finally out in the world is such a big milestone for me, and I’m really proud of everything it took to get here. I’m excited to keep growing, connecting with fans and seeing where the music takes me,” Proehl said.

Several songs address different sides of that story. “Hearts Don’t Break Like That,” which also has an accompanying music video, centers on resilience and beginning again, while “Way Back” looks to memories and moments that can bring the past back into focus. Closing track “Always Almost” turns to a relationship that never fully became what it might have been. “If He Ain’t Up” opens the EP.
Proehl has also spent recent months on the road alongside artists including Russell Dickerson, Jordan Davis, Jake Owen and Niko Moon. His upcoming dates include stops in Chattanooga, Charlotte, Greenville, Fort Wayne, Columbus, Detroit, Clearwater, Cocoa and Fort Lauderdale through October 24. Additional touring is planned for 2027.
