Cold War Kids Revisit ‘Hospital Beds’ With Official Video
The 2007 video returns as the band celebrates two decades of its debut album.
Cold War Kids are revisiting “Hospital Beds,” with the song’s official music video released on October 2 as the band celebrates the 20th anniversary of Robbers & Cowards. Directed by Jay Martin and produced by Michelle Faucheux, the video dates to 2007, the year after the group released its debut album. Its return accompanies an expanded anniversary edition arriving October 30, with a limited-edition brick red 2LP available to preorder now. “Hospital Beds” appeared on the original album alongside fellow singles “Hang Me Up to Dry” and “We Used to Vacation.”
The anniversary vinyl features alternate and new artwork, four previously unfinished songs, and six live recordings. The additional songs are “Loyalty,” “There Goes The Night,” “Jesse Latour,” and “She Can Do No Wrong,” all included on the set’s third side. The live selections document performances in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Paris, and Philadelphia during February and March 2007. Among them is a version of “Hospital Beds” recorded at Philadelphia’s First Unitarian Church on March 29.

The expanded edition also brings Cold War Kids back to material they began writing around the time of their debut but left unfinished. The band returned to those songs and recorded them two decades later, releasing “There Goes The Night” on June 5 and “Loyalty” on July 17. According to singer Nathan Willett, “Loyalty” was already part of their live repertoire before it received a studio recording. “We played ‘Loyalty’ on our first tour across the U.S. in 2005,” he said in the announcement accompanying the song’s release.
Cold War Kids introduced the newly completed material to audiences during their 2026 North American tour with Young the Giant, which included a July 17 hometown appearance at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. The anniversary project follows the band’s 2023 self-titled tenth studio album, Cold War Kids, featuring “Double Life” and “Run Away With Me.” In 2025, they released “Any Day Now,” a tribute to their longtime friend Richard Swift.
