Ariana Grande has released the music video for new track ‘break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored’, which has arrived on the same day as new album Thank U, Next. The new track is taken from the pop titan’s second album in six months, and comes accompanied by a video that is littered with familiar faces.
Directed by longtime collaborator Hannah Lux Davis, ‘break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored’ is a sexy and stylish promo with Grande ruling at a party and putting on her best looks at a mansion in the Hollywood hills. Arianators were are already clamouring to the track, which features a taste of an *NSYNC deep cut.
In the new clip, we see a romantic conflict slowly unfolding – and it’s Riverdale star Charles Melton and model Ariel Yasmine who are at the very centre of it. The track itself is a slow and slinking jam which is also the 12th and final track on Grande’s new album, Thank U, Next. The new album, which was officially released at midnight, arrives just six months on from the much-acclaimed Sweetener.
The album’s release comes hours after Ariana Grande confirmed why she won’t be performing at the Grammys this coming Sunday. The event’s producers had previously said Grande had declined to perform after multiple conversations because she “felt it was too late for her to pull something together”, but the singer is now disputing this version of events.
“I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” she wrote on Twitter. “I can pull together a performance over night and you know that. It was when my creativity & self-expression was stifled by you that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”
