aron! Releases ‘Call When You Can’ Featuring dodie
The duet previews debut album ‘Too Close For Running,’ due September 18 on Verve Records.
aron! has released “Call When You Can,” a new single featuring dodie and the latest preview of his debut album, Too Close For Running. The album is due September 18 on Verve Records. The collaboration pairs aron!’s jazz-influenced pop writing with dodie, a long-time creative inspiration for the singer-songwriter, on a song about maintaining a relationship across distance and competing schedules. An official music video was released with the track.

“Call When You Can” focuses on the compromises that come with a long-distance relationship and the patience required when plans do not line up. aron! sums up that acceptance with the line, “I’ll always understand.” Guitar melodies run through the arrangement as the song moves between pop melody and jazz inflection, supporting lyrics about staying connected without demanding constant availability from the other person.
The single follows “Not For A Lack of Trying,” which arrived last month alongside the album announcement. The earlier track is a romantic pop song built around the cozy sound heard throughout aron!’s recent work.
In June, aron! released “Shiny Stockings,” a song about lasting love that took inspiration from a pair of stockings and was accompanied by an official music video. Earlier in 2026, he teamed with indie-pop and jazz artist Mei Semones on “Macramé.” Another 2026 release, “Wonderful Thing,” dealt with the fear of falling in love and later received support from John Mayer on his SiriusXM channel Life with John Mayer. On Life with John Mayer, Mayer praised aron!’s use of complex harmony in service of the song, noting that his chord knowledge did not get in the way of the tune itself.
