Australian singer-songwriter Cloves tackles Bob Dylan’s 60s anthem ‘Blowin In The Wind’ with a new cover featuring her striking vocals.
“As a songwriter I’ve always admired Bob Dylan’s ability to write songs that become timeless classics,” says Cloves. “It was an absolute honour for me to cover this song. Bob Dylan is a true icon.”
Cloves joins an illustrious list of veterans to cover the track, including everyone from Duke Ellington to Glen Campbell to Stevie Wonder who have all recorded it. To this day, ‘Blowin In The Wind’ remains Dylan’s most covered song.
While the iconic track became synonymous with the civil rights movement, Dylan himself never gave a definitive explanation for the song, saying in a 1962 interview, “There ain’t much I can say about this song, except the answer is blowin’ in the wind”.
The Melbourne native, also known as Kaity Dunstan is fresh off releasing her debut album, One Big Nothing which came out fall of 2018 to acclaimed reviews.
“Kaity Dunstan makes candid, confessional pop with the kind of robust vulnerability that’ll stop you in your tracks,” wrote The Line Of Best Fit. Idolator also called One Big Nothing one of the best debut albums of 2018. Her Dylan cover was also recently featured in a Budweiser commercial during the Super Bowl.
The emerging singer-songwriter sounds far older than her 22 years, with her soulful deep tone and confident sound. One Big Nothing follows her 2015 EP XIII, and the singer has been making waves on a global scale, playing the festival circuit including London’s All Points East Festival, Norway’s Bergenfest PinkPop, Coachella and Lollapalooza.
She also spent most of 2018 joining Greta Van Fleet on their sold-out US tour and made her US television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers singing the album’s title track, ‘One Big Nothing’.
