After a trip back home with wife Nicole Kidman and their family for three shows at the Coliseum Theatre and a Christmas stay in Sydney, country giant Keith Urban is preparing to see in the new year tonight (31) in their adopted home of Nashville. Urban is on the bill for the free Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight show at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.

The four-time Grammy Award winner posted on social media: “Sydney – we had the BEST Christmas, and the shows were a blast!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!! Next up, ringing in 2020 at our Nashville show w @stevienicks, @ashleymcbryde, @jasonisbell, @thestruts, @amandapearlshires and many many more,” he added. “Here come OUR roaring 20’s!!!!”

Tonight’s Nashville event will also feature performances by Bren Joy, Kalie Shorr, the Fisk Jubilee Singers and DJ Dave Audé. After the late afternoon and early evening schedule, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will take to the stage at 9.45pm (his wife Amanda Shires plays earlier in the evening) before Urban starts his performance at 10.55pm, with guests Stevie Nicks and Ashley McBryde.

As midnight approaches, as detailed on the Music City Midnight website, “a 16-foot-tall red music note will descend the 138-foot-tall tower. The midnight Music Note Drop will trigger a fireworks display and major confetti cannons, welcoming the new year.” Urban and his band will then continue until approximately 12.35pm.

There’s little rest for Urban come the new year, as he heads to Las Vegas for four concerts at the Colosseum, on 10-11 and 17-18 January. On 10 February, at Bridgestone Arena, he’s part of the seventh All For The Hall Benefit Concert In Support Of The Country Music Hall Of Fame And Museum’s Education Programmes. Others on the bill include Ingrid Andress, Brothers Osborne, Luke Combs, Lauren Daigle, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Tenille Townes and Tanya Tucker.
