Mergui has announced his new EP, Gut Feeling, which will arrive November 20 through REPUBLIC Collective in partnership with Saban Music Partners. He has also released “Spotlight,” the first song from the five-track project.

Executive produced by Jesse Shatkin, Gut Feeling follows the different stages of a relationship across its tracklist. Shatkin also executive produced “Spotlight,” with Omer Aloni overseeing the song’s creative direction. The EP features writing contributions from AJ Mitchell, Salem Ilese and Whitney Phillips. Its remaining tracks are “GF,” “Never Call First,” “Better” and “Water With You.”

Mergui said “Spotlight” focuses on the feeling of becoming completely absorbed in another person. “‘Spotlight’ is about falling for someone so hard that the whole world disappears. You’re in a crowded room and everyone could be watching, but somehow you’re only seeing one person,” he said. “For me, the song is really about that kind of freedom. No phones, no outside noise, no thinking about what happens tomorrow. Just two people completely lost in each other, letting go and surrendering to the feeling.”

He described Gut Feeling as beginning with that initial attraction before moving into what follows when a relationship becomes a choice. “Gut Feeling begins at the moment you fall for someone and then everything that happens after, when you have to actually choose them,” Mergui said. “I love this EP so much, and I love that people can get to know me a little more through it.”

The announcement follows several Mergui releases earlier in 2026. He released “3 Tears,” written with Amy Allen and Andrew Wells, before sharing “Alien” during the summer.
