Miranda Lambert Taps Ella Langley for ‘Snakeskin Boots’
The collaboration opens Lambert’s new album ‘Crisco,’ due October 2 via MCA.
Miranda Lambert has enlisted Ella Langley for “Snakeskin Boots,” the opening track from her forthcoming album Crisco, due Oct. 2 via MCA. The song will also make its world premiere at Country radio on the album’s release date.
Lambert co-produced “Snakeskin Boots” with Jesse Frasure, drawing on the stylized sound of late-1960s cinematic Westerns and retro pop influences. The song follows a woman making her getaway, a story Lambert compares to an alternate ending for Thelma and Louise. “We wrote ‘Snakeskin Boots’ with Ella in mind. She and I are kindred spirits, and when we were working on her album, I realized how many retro influences we share,” Lambert said. “To me, this song is kind of Thelma and Louise if they didn’t drive off the cliff. It’s two badass women getting away with something, and she’s the perfect partner for that.”
The collaboration extends an ongoing creative partnership between Lambert and Langley. Lambert co-produced Langley’s Dandelion project and appears with her on the album track “Butterfly Season.” She also co-wrote and co-produced Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.” Lambert recently received seven CMA Award nominations spanning her own work and contributions to Langley’s music.
Across its 12 tracks, Crisco draws on country music alongside elements associated with disco, pairing stories of heartbreak, romance, travel and honky-tonk life with references to rhinestones and roller skating. The album also includes Lambert’s recent Chris Stapleton collaboration “A Song To Sing,” which earned a GRAMMY nomination and marked the biggest streaming debut of Lambert’s career. Crisco follows her 2024 album Postcards from Texas, which became her 10th consecutive Top 10 entry on the Top Country Albums chart. Lambert has won three GRAMMY Awards and 14 Country Music Association Awards during her career.
