Watch REDD. And Cat & Calmell’s ‘i wanna’ Video
Co-written with Aziya and produced by Dan Carey, the track precedes November’s ‘heaven’s here’ project.
REDD. has released “i wanna,” a new single featuring Sydney duo Cat & Calmell. The track is the third single from the Australian artist’s forthcoming project heaven’s here, due November 20. Co-written with London artist Aziya and produced by Dan Carey, whose credits include Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C., and Geese, the song draws on indie sleaze with a call-and-response format.

The accompanying video was directed by Cole Surrey and Jacq Justice, with REDD. serving as creative director. REDD. filmed their appearances in Los Angeles, while Cat & Calmell filmed theirs in Sydney. The collaboration came together after REDD. approached the duo about contributing to the track. “Being able to work with Cat & Calmell means so much to me! The girls are so talented, and I’ve been a fan of theirs for a little while now. I reached out and was so stoked when they said they were down to hop on the track. I can’t wait to perform the song live with them!!” REDD. said.
Cat & Calmell connected the recording to an earlier period in their own music. “We had a lot of fun getting to throw it back to a bygone era of C&C (#electric guitars 4ever)…,” the duo said. “i wanna” follows the previously released singles “life” and “better.” Across heaven’s here, REDD. combines punk, rap, and electronic influences with songwriting that addresses gender, sexuality, grief, love, escapism, and coming of age.
The release follows REDD.’s European and UK tour, which included festival appearances in Poland and Germany, European support dates with Perth band South Summit, and headline shows in Prague, Amsterdam, and London. REDD. also performed two capacity showcases at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival, including a set at the Molotov venue. Back in Australia, REDD. is set to support Baker Boy in Melbourne and perform at Gossy Weekender in Gosford and NYE on the Hill in South Gippsland, Victoria. Further shows are expected to be announced.
