Modern country favourite Sam Hunt has today (3) unveiled the new song ‘Sinning With You,’ which is now available at all digital retailers. Hunt wrote the reflective song, which opens on acoustic guitar and vocal, with Paul DiGiovanni, Josh Osborne and Emily Weisband.
Hunt has been performing ‘Sinning With You’ in his recent live shows, and both this and his current hit ‘Kinfolks’ (a No. 8 country airplay hit) are expected to be on his much-anticipated sophomore album. That’s due later this year as the follow-up to his massively successful 2014 debut set Montevallo, which went triple platinum in the US alone.
The star told Rolling Stone of the background to the new single: “It’s a metaphor for a small town guy who was raised with traditional values, a lot of those rooted in church and faith. Most of the value systems that I grew up around are rooted in religion and church. “You start to read books and talk to people who grew up in different backgrounds, and you try to collect that knowledge and find some meaning, some truth. It speaks to the broader pursuit of truth and understanding, in terms of how you are supposed to live your life.”
Hunt performed ‘Kinfolks’ and one of his career anthems, the six-times platinum No. 1 ‘Body Like A Back Road,’ on ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020. That song topped the Hot Country Songs chart for a phenomenal, record-breaking 27 consecutive weeks. It became the No. 1 most-streamed and No. 1 most-downloaded country song of 2017.
Montevallo remains the bestselling debut album by any country artist since 2011. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and was described as “stylistically provocative” by the New York Times and “deceptively phenomenal” by the Washington Post. Hunt’s global streams now total more than 6.85 billion and he has earned 22 million RIAA-certified units.
