Valley Announces Fourth Album ‘Do You Need To Be Entertained?’
New single ‘Don’t You Forget About Me?’ arrives with a music video and a world tour announcement.
Valley have announced their fourth studio album, Do You Need To Be Entertained?, due January 15 via Universal Music Canada/Capitol Records. The announcement arrives with a new single and music video, “Don’t You Forget About Me?”

“Don’t You Forget About Me?” was written with Chase Lawrence, previously of COIN, and centers on the conflict of ending a relationship while still valuing what it meant. Valley describe the song as being about “loving someone enough to realize that letting them go is the right thing to do,” while holding onto the possibility that the connection may still linger. The track follows “Vending Machine” and “Someday,” two earlier releases that introduced the sound of the new album. “Vending Machine” also became Valley’s first No. 1 at Canadian Alternative Radio.
More than two years in the making, Do You Need To Be Entertained? examines connection, distraction and the search for something meaningful in a fragmented environment. Valley say the album grew out of a period of change for the band and its members, with songs shaped by heartbreak, grief, fear, love and care. In the studio, the group put more emphasis on instinct and first ideas, experimenting with live-off-the-floor recording, tape and performances that left room for mistakes and imperfections. Discussing the record’s central question, the band said, “The question is not just Do You Need To Be Entertained? It’s what are you hoping to find when you are and what happens when it’s over?”
Valley will support the album with a newly announced world tour spanning North America, the UK and Europe. The itinerary includes Toronto, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, Los Angeles and Nashville, along with European stops in London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam.
