Listen To William Beckmann’s ‘You Only Love To Break My Heart’

William Beckmann has released a new single “You Only Love To Break My Heart” via Gatsby Records/MCA. Co-written by Beckmann with Jessie Jo Dillon and producer Konrad Snyder, the song follows a relationship in which one person repeatedly draws the other back despite offering little in return.
The track begins with lightly strummed chords before moving into a Latin-influenced groove built around percussion, Mexican instrumentation and guitar. Beckmann said the song’s narrator recognizes that he is being misled but remains drawn to the relationship. “She makes him think she loves him, but she’s playing games. The character is okay with it in a weird and messed-up way,” he said. Beckmann also cited Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas in Desperado as a visual reference for the song’s mix of vulnerability and tension.

A music video for “You Only Love To Break My Heart” accompanies the release. It places Beckmann against red backdrops, shadows and vintage-film effects before shifting into a more stripped-back studio setting. The Texas-born singer is also currently touring, including a September 28 performance at New York City’s Mercury Lounge. He is due to join Kacey Musgraves for several stops on her Middle of Nowhere Tour next month, following previous support dates with artists including Tucker Wetmore.
Beckmann, who was born in Del Rio, Texas, first drew attention with “Someday” and later released the independent projects Faded Memories, Here’s To You. Here’s To Me and Live From Cheatham Street EP. His major-label debut, Whiskey Lies & Alibis, arrived in 2025 and included a Spanish-language cover of Pepe Aguilar’s “Por Mujeres Como Tú.” Beckmann also collaborated with Carter Faith on “Lay Your Heartache Onto Mine,” which appeared on the Landman (Volume II) soundtrack, after the pair previously recorded “Nothin’ For Christmas.”
