Capital FM’s Summertime Ball To Livestream Sets From Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, 5SOS Today
Sigrid, Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Halsey, Anne-Marie and Rita Ora are also on this year’s bill.
Capitol FM’s 2019 Summertime Ball will be live-streaming performances from Maroon 5, The Jonas Brothers, Mark Ronson, Halsey, 5 Seconds Of Summer (5SOS) and many more from this year’s event at Wembley Stadium which begins at 2.30pm UK time this afternoon, Saturday, 8 June. Fans are invited to check out the station’s official website or use the Capital App to check out the action throughout the day.
Nineteen of this summer’s hottest pop artists, also including Calvin Harris, Khalid, Halsey, Anne-Marie, Rita Ora are on this year’s bill at the iconic London venue.
Mark Ronson is opening the show at 2.30pm UK time, with other key stage times including Norwegian pop sensation Sigrid at 4.20pm, The Jonas Brothers at 6.05pm, Ellie Goulding at 6.45pm, Halsey at 7.15pm, 5 Seconds Of Summer at 7.55pm and Maroon 5 at 8.25pm.
Fans who aren’t able to join the 80,000 people expected to attend can still watch or listen to the entire event, as well as keep up to date with the latest backstage action, red carpet looks and gossip through Capital FM’s social media outlets.
The Summertime Ball is a mini-festival in London, held each first or second Saturday of June by the radio station Capital. The first ball was at Emirates Stadium in 2009, and it has since been held at Wembley Stadium. It is promoted and broadcast by the Capital network.
There have been four different sponsors since its first event. From 2012 until 2018, Vodafone has been the sponsor. In 2009, Barclaycard sponsored the ball. In 2010 Cadburys sponsored the event, with Starbucks sponsoring the event in 2011 and Apple Music sponsoring the event in 2019.
A portion of the profit from ticket sales is donated to Help a Capital Child (formerly Help a London Child), the Capital charity. In 2015, a portion of ticket sales was donated to Global’s Make Some Noise.
This year there was a twist in how the line-up was announced through the use of billboards across the UK. People who spotted what were referred to as advertising ‘Ballboards’ were requested to text a specific number with their Location and the artist they saw and as a result of confirming an artist, Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp would give the caller a pair of tickets to this year’s Summertime Ball.
