Maroon 5 Release Brand New Track, ‘Memories’

After teasing its imminent arrival on social media, Maroon 5 have officially released their brand new song, ‘Memories’. You can hear it below.

Following the group’s memorable cover version of Bob Marley And The Wailers’ ‘Three Little Birds’, recorded for Hyundai’s Santa Fe campaign for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, ‘Memories’ is the much-anticipated official follow up to ‘Girls Like You’. The surprise release was teased on 18 September, when the band posted the artwork and the release date on Twitter and Facebook, but gave no hint of what might be coming. Now the mystery is over: ‘Memories’ finds Maroon 5 in a reflective mood; its laidback pop cut is perfect for the end of summer, and it boasts a lilting memory that’s sure to receive heavy rotation as the autumn sets in.

Featuring Cardi B, ‘Girls Like You,’ caught a lot of attention for its cameo-filled video, featuring the likes of Camila Cabello, Ellen DeGeneres, Gal Gadot, Jennifer Lopez, Behati Prinsloo and more. However, not only did the song skyrocket in popularity (reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100), so did the video. In less than 10 months, the song’s music video surpassed 2 billion YouTube views early in 2019.

The LA-based pop superstars have remained in the spotlight ever since. In February 2019, they headlined the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in Atlanta, Georgia, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with guest appearances from rappers Big Boi and Travis Scott.

Also, in July this year, the band’s 2014 smash hit ‘Sugar’ surpassed three billion views on YouTube, making Maroon 5 the first band to achieve this feat (the song is currently the seventh most-viewed music video on YouTube). Originally recorded for the band’s 2014 album, V, ‘Sugar’ received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards in 2016.
