Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation Donate To COVID-19 Relief
The metal icons are delivering much-needed support to the most vulnerable communities amid the pandemic, while their “Metallica Mondays” series encourages fans to donate what they can.
Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation have issued four emergency grants to support those who are most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds, which total $350,000, have been split between four worthy organisations: Feeding America, Direct Relief, Crew Nation and The USBG National Charity Foundation. To help raise additional donations, the band are also offering fans their “Metallica Mondays” streaming series, which broadcasts a full, free concert from Metallica’s archives.
Founded in 2017, Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation was established to create sustainable communities by supporting the fight against hunger, workforce education (through the Metallica Scholars initiative), and other critical local services. Every donation to All Within My Hands goes directly to the organisations which the foundation supports, while all foundation expenses are covered by the band and the Board of Directors.
As the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic, Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation are focusing on the hardest-hit communities, addressing food insecurities, through Feeding America, and medical supply shortages through Direct Relief. Additionally, Metallica are giving back to the music and hospitality communities, which are facing unprecedented job losses, as tours and festivals are cancelled and venues are shuttered. Crew Nation, launched by Live Nation Entertainment, are offering support to those who work behind the scenes to make shows come alive, while the USBG National Charity Foundation offer financial aid to assist the thousands of bartenders, bar backs, and servers who are currently out of work.
As an incentive for fans to get involved, the metal legends have also launched the “Metallica Mondays” streaming series. Every Monday at 5:00 pm PST, the band are broadcasting a full concert from their video archives via Facebook Live and YouTube. While the broadcasts are free, the band are encouraging their fans to donate what they can to All Within My Hands, while rocking out at home.
Most recently, Metallica announced new South American dates for their postponed World Wired Tour. The shows, which were set to kick off in April, will now take place in December, with Greta Van Fleet supporting.
