Luke Bryan Performs ‘Build Me A Daddy’ On The Tonight Show

Ahead of Father’s Day, Luke Bryan debuted a heartfelt rendition of his song ‘Build Me A Daddy’ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The timely ballad comes off of Bryan’s anticipated seventh studio album, Born Here Live Here Die Here, available 7 August.

Bryan’s remote performance, in which he was accompanied only by his electric guitar, was filmed in a gorgeous church. The country artist tugged on viewers’ heartstrings as he sang about a boy who lost his father. The child visits a toymaker, and asks him, “Could you build me a daddy?/Strong as Superman/Make him ten feet tall with a southern drawl/And a crooked smile if you can/’Cause I sure miss him/Maybe you could bring him back/If I walked in with him, it’d sure make mama happy/If you could build me a daddy.”

‘Build Me A Daddy’ offers eager fans another taste of Born Here Live Here Die Here, following the chart-topping ‘What She Wants Tonight,’ ‘Knockin’ Boots’ and, most recently, the Top Ten country hit ‘One Margarita’.

Originally scheduled for a 24 April street date via Capitol Nashville, Bryan’s newest studio effort was postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic, as was the beginning of his “Proud To Be Right Here Tour”. The album will now be available 7 August with tour dates beginning in July. In a statement to his fans, Bryan shared that “I truly believe that music can provide all forms of emotional connections for everyone and I can’t wait to get on the road and share these new songs with you soon.”

In the meantime, Bryan’s fans can catch the artist when he hosts CMA Best Of Fest – a three-hour retrospective airing 9 July at 8:00 pm EST on ABC. The special will feature sets from over 25 artists, captured over the past 16 years of CMA Fest. Bryan will also be joined by Darius Rucker for a brand-new performance.
