Following an initial announcement earlier this week, the organisers of Reading and Leeds Festivals have added Yungblud, Charli XCX, Sigrid, Neck Deep and Jack Harlow to their 2021 line-up.

The twin festivals will return between August 27-29 2021 and will feature six headliners and, for the first time, two main stages.

“We’re going to reproduce the main stage twice”, organiser Melvin Benn told NME. “What was the second stage is going to be elevated to an equal stage with the same presentation. What that really allows us to do is book six acts that are headliners.”

“When we first took over Reading Festival in 1989, the idea that there would even be two stages of acts playing at the same time was innovative. People were like, ‘Two bands playing at once? You can’t do that, Melvin’. We were like, ‘Yeah we can, just watch’. Now festivals have hundreds of stages at once.”

Stormzy and Catfish And The Bottlemen will headline the Friday night, August 27, in Reading and Saturday night in Leeds (28), following by Post Malone and Disclosure on the Saturday night in Reading (28) and Sunday night in Leeds (29).

Liam Gallagher and Queens Of The Stone Age, meanwhile, will top the bill on Sunday night in Reading (29) and Friday night in Leeds (27). Over the course of the weekend, they will be joined by the likes of Lewis Capaldi, Two Door Cinema Club, AJ Tracey, DaBaby, Doja Cat and more.

Tickets for Reading and Leeds 2021 are now on sale. Visit the festival’s official website for further information.

Melvin Benn told NME that all attendees would be tested for coronavirus at the events. “We don’t need a vaccination because we can work through the problem with a really good testing regime,” he said. “We’ll be able to do this by next year.”

This year’s twin-city festivals were initially scheduled to feature such acts as Rage Against the Machine, Sam Fender, and Run the Jewels, in addition to Gallagher and Stormzy. In lieu of the physical events this past weekend, the BBC aired classic sets from past years, including those by Billie Eilish, Yungblud, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, HAIM, and The 1975.
