The track is the latest single from his forthcoming sophomore album titled Weird, set for release on November 13 via Interscope.

“I wanted to paint a picture of what depression really feels like, where everyone can be screaming at you, but you just can’t hear anything at all,” Yungblud (aka Dominic Harrison) said of the visual, where he portrays a depressed individual constantly being told they won’t amount to anything.

“I wanted this video to ignite a resemblance or a spark of self-love to highlight the idea that if you ever feel like you can’t go on, it can get better. You are brilliant, you are an individual and there has only ever been one you and there will only ever be one of you.”

“God Save Me” marks the Doncaster rocker’s directorial debut, alongside collaborator Gavin Gottlich. In the visual, the singer works through his insecurities with the help of a cheeky, well-meaning teddy bear.

“Everyone has their own inner teddy bear, all you gotta do is just let it out. It might just save your life,” Yungblud said of the video’s imagery, which was dedicated to “anyone lying in their bedroom at 4 a.m. wondering why they aren’t good enough.”

Self-love and overcoming the insecurities have long been staples in Yungblud’s work. They’re reflected in both his music and the environment created at his live shows where he strives to create an inclusive environment where he and his fans can be themselves and feel accepted.

Last week, the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist revealed details for his full-length sophomore album, which he described as a “coming-of album.”

Weird will follow Yungblud’s 219 EP, The Underrated Youth, and his 2018 debut album, 21st Century Liability.

Weird is out on November 18 and can be pre-ordered here.
