Ariana Grande surprised her fans today with the announcement that she is dropping a new album this month. While no additional details have been revealed, social media is already aflutter with excitement over Grande’s follow-up to 2019’s Thank U, Next.

Just one week ago, Grande hinted at new music, sharing what looked to be a photo taken at a studio, and captioning that she was turning in mixes. In September, she also posted a brief clip of isolated vocals from a session, as well as what appeared to be lyrics.

This has been a busy year for the Grammy Award-winning pop star. Last month, the artist took home four MTV Video Music Awards – three of which were for her chart-topping single with Lady Gaga, “Rain on Me.” The song, which the two artists performed live at the award show, became one of the biggest hits of the summer.

Grande also collaborated with Justin Bieber on “Stuck with U” in May. The duet debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also awarded the inaugural “Best Video from Home” award at the 2020 VMAs last month. All proceeds from the single during its first year of release will be donated to the First Responders Children’s Foundation, to fund grants and scholarships for children of healthcare workers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, police officers, and firefighters serving at the front lines during the global pandemic.

Earlier in the year, during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Grande also hinted at a collaboration with Doja Cat. “I’m obsessed with her. I love her. I was able to work with her earlier this year on this song that I want to save for whenever it’s time again, to drop,” the artist told Lowe. “She’s just such a breath of fresh air. I think she’s brilliant and so talented.”
