Robinson and Nelly join previously announced artists including Gladys Knight, Green Day, Jennifer Hudson, and Mariah Carey. Nelly, a three-time AMA winner, has a greatest hits medley planned for the event. Chingy, J-Kwon, and members of the St. Lunatics will feature in the performance. The two-hour special airs live on CBS on Sunday, October 6th at 8:00 PM, ET / 5:00 PM, PT.

Four time AMA nominee Smokey Robinson is set to make an appearance alongside the likes of Cedric the Entertainer, Reba McEntire, Lance Bass, Samuel L. Jackson, AJ McLean, and Kate Hudson. Nile Rodgers & Chic will perform their seminal disco track “Le Chic,” while Sheila E. jumps in to sing a rendition of “I’m Every Woman” with Chaka Khan. Green Day, Stray Kids, RAYE, and Kane Brown are also set to perform throughout the night.

Created by Dick Clark, the American Music Awards first premiered in 1974. A host of special segments are set to honor the gold anniversary. Gladys Knight, who sang at the first-ever ceremony, returns for an encore performance of the song she chose, “Midnight Train to Georgia.” Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to Whitney Houston, and Brad Paisley has a song prepared honoring Charley Pride.

Michael Dempsey executive produced this year’s ceremony for Dick Clark Productions. For Paramount with Showtime+ subscribers, it will air live—for others, it will become available for viewing the next day.
