Kool & The Gang’s ‘Celebration’ Gets DJ Crazy Remix
‘Celebration (DJ Crazy Jersey Club Mix)’ is the latest remix of the iconic disco musicians.

One of Kool & The Gang’s best-known tracks is getting a modern update from DJ Crazy. “Celebration,” from the band’s 1980 album Celebrate!, is now the subject of DJ Crazy’s new Jersey club remix, combining the disco classic with elements of 90s and 2020s trends. The single was officially released today.
Although Kool & The Gang are often thought of as a band associated with the disco era of the 1970s and 80s, the band has been constantly relevant. Not only did Kool & The Gang release an album as recently as 2023, a year which marked the band’s 60th anniversary, but they’ve also remained popular among DJs and clubbers. “Celebration” has been the subject of various covers over the years, with pop star Kylie Minogue recording her version of the track and releasing it in 1992, and Australian band Dragon recording their version in the 1980s. Earlier this month, the band’s 1981 single “Get Down On It,” from their album Something Special, was remixed by Australian DJ Young Franco.
DJ Crazy also has a history with dance music, having come up in the Philly club scene and breaking through in the early 2020s with his beat for “Shake Dhat.” As drill rap was taking off in New York, dance music was combining with rap in different ways in other cities. “Jersey played a very big role in what’s going on,” DJ Crazy said in a 2022 interview with The Fader.
“I always like telling people the history. It went from Baltimore to Philly to New Jersey. Jersey was the last stop. Everybody got their own feelings, but I feel Jersey got into the world.” At the time, the Jersey club genre was rising to new levels of success—levels that it has arguably surpassed in the years since, with the sound being adopted by K-pop groups like NewJeans and rappers like Lil Uzi Vert. Now, Kool & The Gang is in on the action, too.
