5 Seconds Of Summer’s ‘Youngblood’ Hits Two Billion Spotify Streams
The band’s first U.S. Top 10 hit from 2018 is the first 5SOS song to reach this milestone.

5 Seconds Of Summer’s celebrated 2018 hit “Youngblood” has been streamed two billion times on Spotify, becoming the first of the band’s songs to reach the milestone.
First released as one of a quartet of international hits from the 5SOS’s third album of the same name from 2018, “Youngblood” went on to top the singles chart for 8 consecutive weeks in the band’s native Australia and became the best-selling Australian single of 2018. It was also successful internationally, eventually moving over 5 million copies worldwide and becoming 5SOS’s first U.S. Top 10 hit.
Self-penned by the band, “Youngblood” remains one of the Sydney-based pop-rock quartet’s signature songs and it is still the most-streamed song by any Australian artist on Apple Music. At present, it is 5S0S’s only song to be streamed more than one billion times on Spotify, though several of the band’s other hits – not least “Teeth” and “She Looks So Perfect” – look likely to hit the one billion mark before too much longer.
Also featuring the singles “Want You Back,” “Valentine” and “Lie To Me (ft. Julia Michaels), the Youngblood album became 5SOS’s third consecutive album to top the Billboard 200 and it later went platinum in the U.S. It has sold over 5 million copies worldwide to date. The album’s release was also supported by the band’s extensive ‘Meet You There’ concert tour. Consisting of four legs in all, and visiting Oceania, North America, the U.K. and mainland Europe, the tour featured 53 shows in total and was celebrated with a spin-off live album, Meet You There Tour Live.
5 Seconds Of Summer followed Youngblood with 2020’s Calm, which topped the Australian and U.K. charts as well as peaking at No. 2 in the U.S. The band’s most recent studio album, 5SOS5, was released in September 2022 and it once again topped the album charts in the band’s native Australia.
