“Bottle” follows Wolf’s recent single “Twiggy” as the next release from Mud. Discussing the album’s creation, Wolf said working with close friends and family gave her the space to follow the material without forcing it into a fixed shape. She said the sense of safety around those collaborators allowed her to “crack my chest open and let whatever was in there crawl out.” “Sometimes it was really sad, sometimes it was disgusting, sometimes it was hilarious,” she said. “There was no pressure to make myself make sense. I could just be. We followed whatever felt alive. I think that’s why the record feels the way it does. It’s emotional and messy and joyful and full of love.”
Earlier this week, Wolf played an intimate backyard show where she debuted additional songs from Mud. A glimpse of the event was shared with Pigeons & Planes alongside a conversation with Wolf about the new record.
Before Mud, Wolf released her second studio album, Big Ideas, on July 12, 2024; the record reached No. 15 on the UK’s Official Albums Sales Chart and No. 14 on the Official Physical Albums Chart. In February 2025, The Big Ideas Tour reached Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s The Timber Yard, alongside Wolf’s appearances at Laneway Festival dates in Australia and New Zealand. A 21-date North American leg began a few months later on April 4, 2025 at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre and included an April 10 stop at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The run continued through May 2025, with dates including Washington, D.C.’s The Anthem, Austin’s Moody Amphitheater and San Diego’s The Sound.
