Miranda Lambert Releases Cover of Rosanne Cash’s ‘Seven Year Ache’
The country star teamed up with Parker McCollum for the iTunes exclusive release.
Miranda Lambert has surprised fans with a cover of Rosanne Cash’s “Seven Year Ache,” featuring fellow Texas native Parker McCollum.
The cover honors the country-pop original while giving it a fun disco-inspired spin—a sound Lambert has been exploring in her new music era. It’s now available as an iTunes exclusive for a limited time, accessible when fans download Lambert’s new album, Crisco. The streaming period runs through 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 8.
Originally released by Cash in 1981, “Seven Year Ache” became one of the country singer’s signature tunes and gave her a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Lambert’s newly released version marks another collaboration between two artists who have maintained a creative friendship.
Lambert and McCollum previously joined forces on “Santa Fe,” from her 2024 Grammy-nominated album Postcards From Texas. The artists have also shared the stage several times, most recently at last year’s “Band Together Texas” benefit concert, which raised more than $8.5 million for flood relief efforts in their home state.
“I love making music with Parker because he’s the real deal,” Lambert shared in a statement. “He’s such a natural artist and has that thing you can’t teach. He is authentically himself, and you can feel that in his music.”
McCollum added: “Miranda has always been a big inspiration to me as an artist from Texas. Not only is she one of the most incredible songwriters we’ve got, but she is also hands-down one of my favorite Country voices ever. I’m honored any time I get the chance to work with and learn from her.”
The surprise release arrives as Lambert celebrates Crisco, her 12-track album released October 2 via MCA. The LP—produced by the singer and Jesse Frasure—includes collaborations with Ella Langley on “Snakeskin Boots” and Chris Stapleton on “A Song To Sing,” as well as other singles “Sunset Marquis” and “Two Things Can Be True.”
Lambert has also been enjoying a major year as a songwriter and producer. She co-wrote and co-produced Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” while also co-producing Langley’s Dandelion project. Lambert earned seven CMA Award nominations in 2026, and Crisco has continued to draw attention for its fresh direction. She plans to celebrate the album with a sold-out show at Billy Bob’s Texas on October 6 and will join Anthony Mason for an in-depth conversation on CBS Mornings this Friday.
