Hofmann said she wrote “Lovers” to try a “smoky, plainspoken, ’70s outlaw country style of tune,” drawing inspiration from music she had been listening to at the time, including Waylon Jennings’ “Waymore’s Blues.” The track’s release follows her win in the Folk/Roots Music Award category at the 2026 SOCAN Awards, which recognize Canadian songwriters, composers, and music publishers.

The Alberta singer-songwriter recently completed a North American tour with Shaboozey. Her recent appearances also included Country Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, and Copper Country Music Festival in Casa Grande, Arizona. She supported Charles Wesley Godwin at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

Hofmann, 23, is from Southern Alberta and has drawn on experiences working in honky-tonks and as a ranch hand across the prairies. She released her debut EP, Purple Gas, in October 2024. Its title track gained wider attention after appearing on Zach Bryan’s Belting Bronco YouTube series; Bryan later recorded it as a duet with Hofmann for his album The Great American Bar Scene. Hofmann’s recent career milestones include a 2026 JUNO nomination for Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year and her September 2024 Grand Ole Opry debut. Her full-length debut album is expected in 2027.
