Kurt Cobain Guitar Up For eBay Auction
Just ahead of what would have been Kurt Cobain’s 50th birthday on 20 February, eBay for Charity is to auction a 1958-era Hagstrom Blue Sparkle Deluxe guitar owned and played by the Nirvana frontman (photo: eBay).
The auction will start at 8am PT on Thursday (16) and run until 26 February at the same time. 10% of proceeds from the winning bid will go to the Portland, Oregon based Transition Projects Inc, which helps people progress from homelessness to housing.
The guitar is currently owned by Nathan Fasold, who runs collectable instrument specialist Black Book Guitars in Portland. Its authenticity has been verified by Earnie Baileyl, who was Nirvana’s primary guitar technician and hand-delivered the instrument to Cobain in Seattle in 1992, at the request of the artist. It was converted to left-handed orientation specifically for Cobain.
