R.E.M. Celebrated In New Podcast From Scott Aukerman, Adam Scott
R.E.M. are the subject of a new podcast from comedian Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang! Bang!) and actor Adam Scott of Parks And Recreation fame.
Their new series – titled R U Talkin’ R.E.M. RE: ME? – will discuss the iconic, Athens GA’s “music and impact” via “album by album analysis”, although both Scott and Auekrman have been known to veer wildly off course. The debut episode, covering R.E.M.’s 1982 EP Chronic Town, is now available.
R U Talkin’ R.E.M. RE: ME? follows Aukerman and Scott’s previous series, the U2-centric U Talkin’ U2 to Me? Back in 2015, the pair actually managed to interview U2 on an episode.
Aukerman is the co-creator of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis and co-founder of the Earwolf podcast network. Initially built around the Comedy Death-Ray Radio podcast, the network has since grown to include many podcasts on diverse subjects. The Earwolf studios are based in Los Angeles, California.
Comedy Bang Bang (previously Comedy Death-Ray Radio) is Earwolf’s flagship podcast. It is hosted by Scott Aukerman and was originally an extension of his weekly live Comedy Death-Ray show versus The weekly podcast features guests from the world of comedy, including Paul F. Tompkins, James Adomian, Tim Heidecker, Bob Odenkirk, and others.
The show is known for improvised conversations between Aukerman and his guests, some of whom perform impressions or original characters. Earwolf has also hosted two music-specific podcasts, Nocturnal Emotions, hosted by Har Mar Superstar and Shortwave, an interview podcast hosted by Grant Lee Phillips.
Adam Scott is perhaps best known for his role as Ben Wyatt in the NBC sitcom Parks And Recreation. He has also appeared as Derek in the film Step Brothers, Henry Pollard in the Starz sitcom Party Down, and Ed Mackenzie in the HBO series Big Little Lies. He is currently co-starring with Craig Robinson in the sitcom Ghosted, which premiered on 1 October 2017 on Fox.
