The conductor for Rosalía’s Lux Tour is a rising star who has has captivated audiences around the world.
It’s time for Yudania Gómez Heredia to step into the spotlight. After playing a central role in Rosalía’s Lux tour, the Cuban conductor, organist, and composer has signed with Decca Records for the release of a forthcoming album.
Gómez Heredia is the product of an eclectic cultural heritage. Her work merges orchestral and choral conducting with composition and organ performance, informed by the traditions of her Cuban homeland, European church music, contemporary repertoire, jazz, and improvisation. Her magnetic presence as a conductor is mirrored by her ability to connect with a worldwide audience through social media. Her Instagram account commands 188,000 followers and counting.
That mix of savvy, sophistication, and charisma helped to land Gómez Heredia at the head of the Heritage Orchestra on Rosalía’s Lux Tour, a gig that brought her to the stage at world-famous venues like O2 Arena in London, Madison Square Garden in New York, and Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The tour wraps up this Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Kaseya Centre in Miami.
Gómez Heredia took to music early on as a child, first singing and then composing. “In seventh grade I wrote my first piece for piano,” she says. “And then I never stopped.” After studying choral conducting and composition in Havana, she moved to her current home base of Germany, where she studied church music and earned her master’s and degrees in choral and orchestral conducting. Fresh off the Rosalía tour, she’ll channel that lifetime of unique experience into her Decca recording career.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Decca Records,” Gómez Heredia says. “It’s a label with an extraordinary musical legacy, and I am excited to join a roster that includes artists and ensembles as distinctive and inspiring as Max Richter and Chineke! Orchestra. What excites me most is Decca’s ambition for the future and its commitment to unique artists. I couldn’t imagine a better home for this next chapter and my new album. There’s so much I’m looking forward to sharing—and this is only the beginning.”
