‘Goo’ challenged the idea of what a mainstream rock album could be without sacrificing the experimentalism that earned Sonic Youth a devoted cult following.
The new archival release is a tempo and pitch-corrected version of the ‘Sister’-era 1987 recording.
The album was taped in Lisbon in 1993 and briefly appeared as an unauthorised bootleg in 1995.
Experimental Jet Set, Trash And No Star captures how far Sonic Youth were willing to push against commercial forces with their noise-rock agenda.
Dubbed ‘Sonic Youth: 30 Years of Daydream Nation’, the programme takes place on 20 October in Portland, Oregon, at the Hollywood Theatre.
