Bastille Brave The ‘Wild World’

Published on

Bastille, the London four-piece who made a sensational debut with the four-million-selling Bad Blood album, have announced that the follow-up will be titled Wild World and released on 9 September. It includes the lead single ‘Good Grief,’ the video for which amassed more than half a million views in 48 hours.

bastille-good-griefLike its predecessor, the new set was co-produced by band frontman and writer Dan Smith with Mark Crew, again in a basement studio in south London. Highlights include ‘Send Them Off’ and the string-laden ‘The Currents.’

“If our first album was about growing up and the anxieties surrounding it” says Smith, “our second is about trying to make sense of the world around you, both as you see it and as it’s presented to you through the media. It’s also about asking questions of the world and of the people in it. We wanted the album to be a bit disorientating — at times extroverted and introverted, light and dark.”

Bastille will support the release with the Wild, Wild World Tour, which will visit 14 arenas in the UK in October and November, and includes a 1 November date at London’s 02. Ahead of that, the band will follow their triumphant performance at Glastonbury last weekend with several more festival appearances, including T In The Park (9 July), V Festival (20 and 21 August), Festival No. 6 (2 September) and Bestival (9 September).
