‘Disappearing Act’ Previews Beck’s ‘Ride Lonesome’ Album
The track pairs acoustic guitar and orchestration with vocals, with Nigel Godrich handling the mix.
Beck has shared “Disappearing Act,” the third advance track from his forthcoming album Ride Lonesome. The song follows “In The Night” and the album’s title track, “Ride Lonesome,” as previews of Beck’s first collection of all-new material since the Grammy-winning Hyperspace. Beck produced the new song, with longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich handling the mix.
The album reunites Beck with Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner, musicians who previously worked with him on Sea Change, Morning Phase and Mutations. The sessions took place in Room B at United Studios in Hollywood, with Godrich, who also worked on Sea Change and Mutations, returning to mix. Beck said returning to familiar musical and physical territory also revealed changes in the group’s performance and chemistry after decades of working together. “While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way,” he said.
