Replacing the foreboding synths of her previous hits like ‘bad guy’ and ‘bury a friend’, ‘Everything I Wanted’ offers bright, melodic electronica and tender lyrics.

The singer initially shared a short clip of the new single yesterday, which marks her first new music since her record-breaking debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, was released back in April.

Recorded at both their home studio in Highland Park and on the road on tour this summer, the track was co-written by Billie Eilish and Finneas, her sole collaborator, producer and beloved elder brother, and is a touching tribute to their kinship.

“This song is one my brother and I wrote about each other,” Eilish revealed to her fans today. “No matter what happens, we always have been and will be there to make it better.”

If it seems like Eilish has been everywhere and anywhere at once, she has. The singer-songwriter has been selling out stadiums during her North American arena tour, which also included major festival appearances at Coachella, Glastonbury, Life Is Beautiful and the recently announced, Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival in 2020. Her next stop is at Corona Capital in Mexico City on 17 November.

Despite her busy schedule, the singer has also been busy in the studio, working on new music with her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell.

Last month, while appearing on Zane Lowe‘s Apple Music, Finneas confirmed plans to release new tracks: “We’re deep into the creative process on new material for sure,” he said.

In the interim, Eilish dropped an exclusive merchandise collection for Urban Outfitters and will be making an appearance tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s fan-favourite ‘Celebrities Read Mean Tweets: Music Edition’, along with Green Day and Leon Bridges.

The 17-year-old pop star is also up for six nominations at the upcoming American Music Awards, which will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on 24 November at 8 pm EST on ABC.

Eilish faces tough competition for New Artist Of The Year, Favourite Social Artist, Favourite Music Video for ‘bad guy’, Favourite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, Favourite Female Artist – Alternative and Favorite Album – Pop/Rock for her debut record. She will also be performing during the live telecast.
