Rapper, singer, e-sports owner and now marijuana mogul, Drake has officially launched his own cannabis brand named More Life Growing Company, named after his hit album, More Life.

The new brand is a collaboration with Toronto’s Canopy Growth Corporation and will be, “centred around wellness, discovery, and overall personal growth with the hope of facilitating connections and shared experiences across the globe,” says the official press statement.

In the same statement, Drake shared his feelings on starting his own cannibus brand.

“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” says the Canadian artist. “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”

Many speculated Drake was about to launch something new after his team hand-delivered flowers around his native Toronto under the moniker, More Life Growth Co.

Countless artists have lent their name and likeness to various spirit, beer and wine brands so it makes sense that the next market for celebrity-branded ingestibles would be marijuana.

Along with the more obvious purveyors (Bob Marley, Tommy Chong, Willie Nelson Snoop Dogg) a number of surprising artists are getting into the cannabis industry including Jenny Lewis, Sigur Rós, Gene Simmons of Kiss and even Martha Stewart. Most likely with encouragement from her cooking show partner, Snoop Dogg.

Canada legalised recreational marijuana last year, joining a number of US states that have seen the industry rapidly expand in recent years.

Along with More Life Growth Co. Drake also has his own line of whiskey, called Virginia Black Whiskey.

In addition to his more entrepreneurial activities, Drake also jumped on a new remix of the Brazilian artist MC Kevin o Chris’s ‘Ela É do Tipo’. The song title translates to, ‘She Is the Type’ and was released via Drake’s OVO Sound.
