‘Like a G6’ Has Hit One Billion Streams On Spotify
The 2010 track comes from their third studio album, ‘Free Wired.’
Far East Movement’s 2010 track “Like a G6” has reached the milestone achievement of one billion Spotify streams. Produced by the Cataracs and featuring vocals from Dev, the electro-hop song was the lead single from Far East Movement’s third studio album Free Wired.

The hook, performed by Dev, is pulled from her previous song “Booty Bounce,” which was also written and produced by the Cataracs: “Poppin bottles in the ice, like a blizzard/When we drink we do it right, gettin’ slizard/Sippin sizzurp in my ride, like Three 6/Now I’m feelin’ so fly like a G6.” That chorus features a reference to “Sippin’ On Some Syrup,” the 2000 single from Memphis underground rap group Three 6 Mafia.
In 2010, Far East Movement member Kev Nish, told MTV, “A G6 is not a Gatorade flavor. It’s not a car, convertible, four-door. It’s not a watch. But Drake talks about having G4 pilots on deck, so we said, ‘What’s flyer than a G4?’ Of course, it would be a G6.” Nish was referencing Drake’s 2009 cut “Forever,” in which he bragged that he knew G4 pilots on a first-name basis. A G6 airliner was not introduced until 2016.
In a different interview, Nish said, “People ask us ‘what’s you’re inspiration?’ and it’s just partying in a pool house, and in the club of course, DJs are a huge inspiration to us.”
“Like a G6” peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for three non-consecutive weeks, and was the first single by Asian-American artists to do so. It was also the first by any artists of East Asian origin since Kyu Sakamoto‘s 1963 single “Sukiyaki.”
