Country icon George Strait gets back to his barroom twang roots with the new single, ‘Every Little Honky Tonk Bar’ off his forthcoming release Honky Tonk Time Machine.
The new single is a family affair, enlisting the help of his son Bubba Strait and longtime collaborator Dean Dillon to craft the single, which opens up his new LP Honky Tonk Time Machine, set for release on 29 March.
The barroom anthem sees the King of Country Music in spry form, backed by a B-3 organ and a rollicking tempo. For his 30th studio album, Strait took more creative control, producing the album alongside Chuck Ainlay and writing eight of the album’s 13 tracks,
The track first made its debut during Strait’s concert in Las Vegas last December, when he shared the song’s origins. Cooked up during a late-night session, Strait found inspiration in his son’s opening line, “Whiskey is the gasoline that lights the fire that burns the bridge”, Rolling Stone reported.
‘Every Little Honky Tonk Bar’ made its premiere on iHeart World today and follows the previously released singles off Strait’s new album, ‘Código’ and ‘God and Country Music’.
The upcoming album is the follow-up to Strait’s 2015 LP Cold Beer Conversation and along with 12 original songs includes a cover of Johnny Paycheck’s 80s hit ‘Old Violin’.
During the span of his 30-year career, Strait has amassed 60 chart-topping singles, earning him the indisputable title of ‘King Of Country Music’. He remains the only act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades.
Strait will continue his ‘Strait to Vegas’ residency in 2019 with two shows on 23 and 24 August, while fans can also catch him in Atlanta on 30 March, then at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on 8 June, followed by Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on 22 and 23 November.
