Country duo Maddie & Tae have unveiled the official video for their powerful love song, ‘Die From a Broken Heart’.
Co-written by Maddie & Tae’s Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye, along with Jonathan Singleton and Deric Ruttan, the song is off the duo’s recent EP, One Heart to Another, released earlier this spring. The five-song EP marked a new era for the pair, showcasing their beautiful harmonies and vulnerable songwriting.
In the visual, Tae stars as the protagonist, who falls in love and experiences heartbreak, as Maddie narrates their relationship through song. The two previously released an acoustic performance video of their hit single back in February.
The critical darlings have just finished up the first leg of Carrie Underwood’s Cry Pretty Tour 360, where they were the opening act. As they prep to re-join the tour this September, the duo talked to The Boot about opening for one of Nashville’s biggest stars.
“It’s been amazing, we’ve learned so much,” said Marlow. “This is our first tour being direct support, so this has been a huge step for us. We’ve just amped everything up, from the production, from the show, from everything. It’s been a great learning experience so far, and we’re having a blast.”
Before the two hit the road again, they will also be making an appearance at the ACM Honors, taking place 21 August at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.
In the same interview, the duo also talked about how far they’ve come since their breakout hit, ‘Girl in a Country Song’, which hit the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2014.
“I think people had ‘Girl in a Country Song’ in their head for a long time now, and now ‘Die From a Broken Heart’ is getting more attention,” Marlow continued. “It’s just cool for everyone to get to see those deeper dives from us.”
You can catch the duo on the road this month, at a number of US dates before they start the next leg of the Cry Pretty tour, kicking off on 10 September in San Diego.
