Mariah Carey Confirms Asia Tour Dates For ‘Celebration Of Mimi’ Tour
The singer performed in Shanghai, China in May.
Mariah Carey has announced a run of Asia tour dates for her “Celebration of Mimi” tour, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of her 2005 album, The Emancipation of Mimi.
The shows begin in Bangkok, Thailand on October 11. From there, she’ll travel to Manila in the Philippines for an October 14 performance. On October 28, she’ll perform in Kobe, Japan, before wrapping up the run in Yokohama, Japan on November 1 and 2.
Carey first stopped in Asia this year in May. Upon announcing the initial run of dates, she said, “We’re taking The Celebration of Mimi worldwide! I can’t wait to see you all during this special anniversary year of the Mimi album more dates to be announced soon!” The initial run began in Shanghai, China on May 16, followed by another show in Shanghai on the 17th.
These Mimi tour dates coincide with the vinyl reissue celebrating the album’s 20th anniversary. Back in May, Carey unveiled the new release, which arrived in the form of a 45-track 5LP box set and a 40-track digital deluxe edition.
The updated edition combines the original album with tracks from its subsequent Platinum Edition; new remixes from Kaytranada, Desert Storm, and Esentrik; demos; live performances; acapellas; instrumentals; and edits. The reissues also feature a never-before-released track, “When I Feel It,” a Mahogany Beatz track recorded for The Emancipation of Mimi but ultimately remained unreleased due to clearance issues with its sample of The Dynamic Superiors’ “Here Comes That Feeling.”
Released in 2005, The Emancipation Of Mimi was Carey’s first record since 1997’s Butterfly to debut at the top of the Billboard Top 200. Its celebrated hit, “We Belong Together,” remained atop the Hot 100 for 14 weeks.
